For my 7 week project I have chosen the theme 'Disguise'. I decided to take a series of pictures using my iPhone and the Hipstamtic app:
10 Pins of Disguise of I liked
When I chosen this picture as I like because all of those image is more challenge for me to be like them. I love to being more challenge and this picture is a lot of inspiration to make a final picture.
I need to find something cover the face
Picture of Masks
WWW:Good things- I took a lot of pictures. I chose the topic Disguise because it links well with Fashion, also it was fun working with the mask. It went well, I had lots of ideas using masks.
|
EBI:If I had more time, I would have liked to take more pictures, and used a variety of different masks and people.
|
Favourite Picture - Miss Healy
I picked two similar photos, they looked so funny because of the hair and the mask. I think the way the model is standing is awesome. I took the pictures using a hand held camera and when I got the the pictures developed I noticed that they were not clear, some were blurry. Next time I go out to take pictures I will use a tripod as this will eliminate any involuntary movement.

WWW:I like all these pictures, I find I am good at thinking of a variety of different shots and I am creative with choosing different props.
|
EBI:I like close up shots because I like to see objects clearly. I took these photos using an iPod. This worked well when I could control the props and people. The iPod did not work so well trying to take pictures of the pigeon as it did not allow me to zoom in far enough therefore prevented me from getting a close up shot of the pigeon.

1. Artist Research / Photography - Saul Steinberg.
What did I like about him?
I like Saul Steinbergs pictures because they have a strong link to the subject I have picked which is disguise. Most of the pictures that I have chosen are black and white. I really like black and white photos because I like old fashioned photos and most photos taken today are in colour, I like to be different. I also like the variety of body postures, some standing, sitting, lying etc.
The photo of the lady in the bath has helped inspire me with different ideas for my own pictures. I would like to photoshop a real body in the bath with a fake head.

2. Artist research / Photography - Richard Burbidge.
What did I like about him?
When I went on ''Richard Burbidge'' I clicked on the images he created and I thought they were amazing! I chose his photos as it is a style that appeals to me and I would love to emulate his work. These photos were made in Photoshop, he created Disguises by hiding part of the face with a mask, I might try to create something similar for my website. I like the colours and masks, some of them remind me of Halloween. I would like to play around with different colours in photoshop, I would use darker colours to make the pictures look a bit more sinister and scary.

Research: John Stezaker
These images are entitled, John Stezaker’s work re-examines the various relationships to the photographic image:
In his collages, John Stezaker appropriates images found in books, magazines, and postcards and uses them as ‘readymades’. John change picture to show his own personality. He like to show power memory and truth.

John Stezaker's Quote
" I call my combinations of images of men and women "marriages". It is an old idea for me, although this is a recent work, from my series Muse. Each picture consists of a man smoking combined with a female other half, the idea being that he is "inhaling inspiration", which is classically associated with the female. When I started producing marriages, I felt I was creating new beings. They were more like people than the original bland glamour shots of the 40s and 50s that I used as source material. Somehow, when they got broken up and recombined, real people seemed to emerge. "
" My best work happens during explosions of activity, mainly late at night. The next morning, I might decide to dismantle the results, but this also counts as a creative process. The great thing about collage is that, because production is so minimal, you are always close to the vantage point of the viewer. I am often asked why I don't just get two people, pose them for photographs and splice the shots more accurately, but that misses the point. It's the imperfect match, the failure of unity, that makes us identify with these beings. "
" I have used the actor in this work, Mischa Auer, before. He was a very interesting character, married four times. I collected pictures of smoking figures for some time, but it was only when I gave up cigarettes that I found a use for them. A few years ago, I gave up alcohol, too – and, sure enough, drink has started to appear in my images. It is nice to think my art has that therapeutic immediacy, even though this is not my conscious intention. "
" I know nothing about the woman, but she has a number of attributes I look for. Women with their hair up are useful because they combine easily with a male haircut. She is also wearing a watch: I'm fascinated by the particular time they tell, because it represents the here and now. The portraits exist in a fantasy world, but the watch is real, the only objective thing in the work. "
" When people say I'm not a real photographer, I tell them I work with the medium rather than in it. In the internet age, it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between the producers and the consumers of images. I see my work as merging these two worlds. "
" When I was showing this in Los Angeles, a memorabilia collector told me he thought I must have a secret agenda because the characters in my collages all had terrible lives. Although this was a coincidence, maybe I was looking for a certain kind of vulnerability. "

Why do you like it?
I really like John Stezaker's creative because it's proper Disguise and really good matching up never mistakes, I like the way their work and create project.
Which particular image is most interesting?
I'd found it really very interesting because John Stezaker always making every picture with black and white, but I found it's got colour only one image.
How might the work help you develop your ideas about the theme?
It's can match my Disguise because, which I need projects of half faces but I don't want same experience as John because I could doing different like not people, I can do with animal faces. For example full animal of 2 animals or 1 half animal with 1 half human.
Artist: Amy Judd
She was Artsy forager, I like Amy Judd's work because in all of them there's never a face being shown. I like her work because she always covers the faces with something unrelated but it stills works. This relates to disguise because you can't see her face.
Artist: Bobby Neal Adams

Final Disguise of I chosen
WWW:I like the fact that you cant see peoples faces and the only clear part of the picture is the blue top. This creates a mystery as it is not clear at first glance what the picture is.
|
EBI:I like this picture but it's aren't good disguise but I want to overlap exactly same colours as wall but im trying to find it but it's too hard for matching or different overlap.
|
Homework
WWW:My cousin drew the cartoons on sticky notes. I like the pictures because they link to my theme which is disguise.I like the way he has held up the pictures so that it matches perfectly. The photos work well because he has matched the commuters clothing with the different character.
