Cyanotypes
|
How to make Cyanotypes? To make a cyanotype, I used a paper that had special chemicals on it. I picked objects that had interesting shapes like a triangle, pencil, book etc . (They needed to be small objects so that they would fit on the cyanotype paper). One benefit of this was being able to see the detail of the shape more clearly. Creating pictures like this using the sun is so easy and way better than drawing because drawings are not perfect and don't always show as much detail.
I put the objects on the paper and when the sun was out, I took them outside. After a few minutes, I removed the objects and took the paper inside to wash it in the dark room. The result was these blue and white images. |
My Cyanotype & someone else's Cyanotype
The photo on the left is mine; it is a cyanotype. Here's how I made it. When we went outside, there wasn't very much sun and it was quite cold. Mr. Nicholls said we should bring heavy objects which would come out clearly. I looked for heavy objects but only found one because everyone else grabbed the heavy things before me! So I got some 'not-so-heavy' objects, put them on the special paper, and left them for a while. The effect was not as good as it would have been with heavy objects; I really needed more time as well. When time was up, I removed the items and thought, ''Argh! It's not finished yet!'' Second photo is very clear, I choose it because it look so perfect and beautiful, I want be like this photo but I'll try get first straight away before make them don't fair. My photo wasn't very clear so I wanted to start again but there was no time!
